Calculation Methods

The calculation method selects the convention used by the underlying prayer-time calculation engine. Choose the method used by your mosque, local authority, or community; azanAPI does not select one from coordinates.

v1 accepts:

muslim_world_league, egyptian, karachi, umm_al_qura, dubai, iacad_dubai,
moon_sighting_committee, north_america, kuwait, qatar, singapore, uoif

Pass one value as calculation_method, for example:

calculation_method=north_america

Methods can have their own built-in parameters and conventions. They are distinct from API Azan adjustments, which are optional post-calculation offsets reported separately in adjustments_minutes.

Dubai profiles

dubai preserves the underlying adhanpy Dubai profile. iacad_dubai is an opt-in Dubai-specific profile validated against available official IACAD Dubai prayer-time reference data. It retains the Dubai calculation profile but uses an internal Asr method adjustment of +1 minute rather than the standard Dubai profile’s +3.

This is a calculation-method choice:

Calculation method → calculated_times → optional Azan adjustments → azan_times

asr_adjustment remains available for a client’s own final Azan-time preference; it is not used to implement iacad_dubai.
